The Beetles Crossing Abbey Road

So, back in high school, my friends and I used to stick pictures in our lockers -- often of the Beatles.  (And also long sections of script from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but that's a different post.)

Following in that tradition, one of my old buddies posted this on Pinterest for me:

Yeah, some things haven't changed all that much over the years.  ;)

Every Once In A While.... Reality Checks In

Every once in a while, I laugh at the Pinterest boards of some of my former students.  They pin photos of completely non-accessible guys, like members of One Direction.

I mean, not only is this boy super-famous and surrounded every day by women who want him, he also lives in a foreign country and has a girlfriend to whom he's so ostensibly devoted he had her face (foolishly) tattooed on his arm.
Uh, yeah.  Like these girls even have a chance with him.

Then I remember the pics I tend to pin of good-looking men:

Gene Kelly

John Lennon

Errol Flynn.

They're all dead.

This tends to change my perspective somewhat.

Sharing The Humor

A few weeks ago, I got a tweet with a link in it to a buzz feed article about a hilarious Pinterest board.
(*pauses for a moment to reflect on how very meaningless that sentence would've been a decade ago*)

Blogger and would-be author Tiffany Beveridge is on Pinterest, like hundreds of thousands of other women (and some guys, too!).
She has a board about her imaginary, well-dressed toddler, Quinoa.  (Yes, she misuses the word "toddler," but the board is wonderful anyway.)  Here, she uses ridiculous fashion shots of children wearing clothes so expensive that their cost would feed an entire third-world family for months and makes fun of the pics to create character development for this fictional child.  What truly gives me warm fuzzies are the names she uses for the children: Quinoa, her BFF Chevron, Humboldt.  Hilarious.
Here, let me give you a sample or two:

She has captioned this picture thusly:

One time when Quinoa and I got separated in a busy train station, she thankfully remembered our safety training: stay in one place, look spectacular, and don't talk to poor people.

Isn't that great?
Here's another:
Quinoa and her BFF Chevron prepared a class presentation on The Captain and Tennille for Famous Person's Day.

And my favorite:

Sometimes when Quinoa is particularly well-dressed, she begins to levitate.

Go check out her board -- and laugh!

Things I Don't Understand About Blogging And Twitter

How did someone end up at my blog this week after searching for "books in the library"?
Why do my newest Twitter followers include a site for scotch drinkers (I don't drink), SLC Golf (I'm athletically retarded), and a self-described restauranteur/astrologist?  Do these people actually think I have anything in common with them?  Why would I follow back if we share absolutely NO interests?
And why has an autism activist been following me for months?
Oh, and on Pinterest, I got an invite to join a board on pet protection.  What the heck?  Like I'm going to join a society that encourages people to get more dogs -- yeah, right.  *eye roll*
My favorite what-the-heck Twitter follower, however, has been following me for weeks.  It's this one:

Latest crop circles videos, photos and news!

*shakes head in wonderment*

A Bit Of Something Pinteresting....

Pinterest amuses me.
It's not as time-consuming as blogging or tweeting, and I pick up followers without even trying.  I really like the visual aspect of it, and it actually had become a good place to post idea-starters for my writing.
(Of course, I follow my niece with all her wedding plans and kitties, so that part is getting a little inundating for me.....)
It's no surprise that one of my most popular boards is "Just Funny," which has nothing to do with my writing, but has a very broad appeal.  (It's also been the ONLY place where I've had to delete nasty comments, as two women did NOT like the fact that I posted a pic making fun of girls who think that they're too special to prepare for the future.)  You can check out my sense of humor here.  My newest pin is of Max's blue LTD flying over the supermoon last night.  :)
Equally popular are my boards about Creating Nerissa's Style for my WIP, The (Dis)Appearance of Nerissa MacKay, whereon I pin pictures of things that look like Nerissa might wear, and my Steampunk board, which is just a general  collection, as my steampunk ideas are all very much in the earliest stages.  Both boards have 63 followers.
Coming in right behind those two is my Celtic board, where I pin things related to Becoming Brigid, which is in editing stages.  This board has pictures of places that actually inspired the story, like The Ring of Brodgar in Orkney.  There are 62 followers for this board.  C'mon over and have a look at what I've got posted.
Then, with 61 followers, is my Vampire board, with lots of fun stuff, only some of which matches either of my Half-Vampire books.  Most recently, I pinned pics of vampire hunting kits.  :)  And naturally I have photos of Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins.  (Mmmm...)
Last night I created two more boards, one about castles (as Nerissa lives in a castle -- plus, I just freakin' love castles!), and one about eerie/cool/odd places that might be good to use as story settings at some future point.  Here's the Castles board.  And here's the Places and Spaces board.
Pay me a visit and see if anything catches your interest!
