Goodreads

I joined Goodreads tonight.
I ranked 748 books in one sitting, and I feel like I've just barely scratched the surface.  I wonder how many thousands of books I've read in my life.  I certainly feel fortunate to have had access to so many!
I am also pleased with the wide variety that I'm finding even in this cursory first search.  I'm ranking everything from Hobbes' Leviathan to Westerfeld's Leviathan to Calvin and Hobbes.
Are any of you on Goodreads?  I'd love to become a "friend" there as well -- as soon as I figure out how.  :)

Update: okay, my list is now at 968 books ranked, and that's all I'm going to do for tonight.  :P

  1. What is goodreads? I've heard about it, but never from someone who actually uses it.

  2. I like Goodreads a lot. I tend to read reviews there instead of on Amazon, because Amazon reviews have started to devolve into, "I don't like this book because it's $12.99." I'm a little mystified at people who place rankings on books they haven't read (for instance, there are people who have ranked my book, and obviously they haven't read it yet), but someone told me that some people assign stars to books so they can sort them somehow. I don't know. Feels weird to me, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I don't let it bother me. Did you create a page for your book?

  3. That is weird about the amazon stars thing. I've never heard of that before.
I'll go look you up on goodreads, though.

  4. It's not a bad little set up, Martin. Go to goodreads.com and check it out. I mainly did it in hopes of connecting with others who might want to read my book, but now I'm finding TONS of stuff to add to my TBR list!

  5. I'm on Goodreads (but don't do much with it at this point). A few others from my GT class are on there too.
